Theater Producer, Educator, & Artist
Wonnie Kim (she/her) is a theater artist raised by the vibrant D.C. theatre community. She is a graduate of Georgetown University, where she studied Healthcare Policy and Classics. Her interdisciplinary studies culminated in her department’s first theater studies thesis, which examined parallels between theatrical and public health responses to the U.S. AIDS epidemic. As an advocate for theater as care, Wonnie serves as the Associate Director for The Art of Care Initiative at The Laboratory for Global Performance & Politics, specializing in the intersection of health and the arts.As a Korean American raised in Ohio, Wonnie believes that the power of theater is not only the stories that are told but also how works are produced and fit within their community. She channels this passion as the Artistic Producing Lead and Co-Founder of HEART: DMV AAPI Theatre Alliance. As an educator, Wonnie prioritizes inclusivity, practices empathy, and celebrates bold choices. She previously taught at the Shakespeare Theatre Company as a Learning Apprentice for their 2024-25 season. She is currently a Community Engagement Fellow at Arena Stage for their 2025-26 season, primarily working in the Learning Division.
